Bishop to celebrate 10th anniversary Mass, faithful invited

It’s been 10 years since Bishop Michael F. Burbidge was installed as the fifth bishop of the Diocese of Raleigh. He succeeded Bishop F. Joseph Gossman, who retired after serving as bishop of the diocese for 31 years.

Bishop Burbidge was installed August 4, 2006, at Meymandi Concert Hall in downtown Raleigh.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of that occasion, the faithful are invited to Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016.

During the past decade, 13 churches have been dedicated, 19 men have been ordained to the priesthood, and 34 permanent deacons were ordained. The past 10 years have also brought exciting events, such as the building of Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, the Cause for Beatification and Canonization of Father Thomas Price and the creation of a new Secretariat for Lay Formation, Marriage and Family Life.
