Bishop Burbidge responds to terror attack in Nice, France, and calls attention to Novena for Peace

France has once again been struck with an extreme act of senseless violence, resulting in the death of 84 people in Nice, France and injuries for many more. I ask all Catholics in eastern North Carolina to pray for the French people in this time of need, especially the families and friends of the victims of last night’s terror attack.

At this time, I also reassert my call for the Catholic faithful to consider joining me in prayer throughout the Novena for Peace, which began yesterday and ends on July 22. Additionally, I call attention to the Vigil of Mercy and Compassion at Immaculate Conception Parish (Durham) on Friday, July 22 at 6 p.m., which I will attend.

May all who have been impacted by violence find the peace only found in Christ Jesus.
