- John J. Carey Award Nominations - The Board of Directors of Catholic Charities invites nominations for the 2008 John J. Carey Award. Nominees shall have made outstanding contributions to social ministry in the Diocese of Raleigh and show a strong commitment to the Church’s social mission. Deadline for nominations is September 30, 2008. Mail completed nomination form with supporting attachments to: John J. Carey Award Committee, Catholic Charities, 715 Nazareth Street, Raleigh, NC 27606-2187; or e-mail to walsh@raldioc.org. Award will be presented at the Campaign for Human Development Banquet, October 30, 2008, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cary.
- Adoption Services - Catholic Charities has provided adoption and child welfare services since 1898. We assist families seeking either domestic or international adoption from an authorized placement source. Adoption services currently include: consultation on how to get started, pre-placement assessments and home studies, updates to existing home studies, and post-placement supervision. The mission of Catholic Charities is to assist the parishes, communities and Diocese of Raleigh in accomplishing the social mission of the church. In its roles of servant, advocate, facilitator and convener, Catholic Charities acts in the parish and community-at-large to heighten awareness of issues and, when appropriate, provides services to fulfill unmet needs. Catholic Charities serves people in need through advocating for social and economic justice as well as addressing immediate needs with emergency resources or direct services.
