Marriage & Family Life
Worldwide Marriage Encounter is for couples who are willing to work at improving their communication and grow closer together. They learn communication techniques that will not only benefit their marital relationship but also benefit their children and their faith. It is not a retreat, a marriage clinic, a group sensitivity training, or a problem-solving weekend. It’s a unique approach aimed at revitalizing your marriage. It is a weekend to focus on the one you love most. Pope John Paul II wrote: “I appreciate what Worldwide Marriage Encounter has done to inspire married couples with a true Christian vision of their vocation to marriage and family life. I hold much hope for the future in Worldwide Marriage Encounter.”
Who Is It For?
Marriage Encounter is for any couple that desires a richer, fuller marriage. Since every marriage can be improved, even the best marriages can find new meaning and deepened joys through the weekend.
Marriage Encounter is also for priests and religious who want to enhance their relationship with God’s People and develop an even deeper appreciation of their own vocation.
From Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, a series of presentations is given by a team of couples and a priest. The ideas presented give a husband and wife the opportunity to look at themselves as individuals and to look at their relationship with each other, with God and with others. After each presentation, the husband and wife have time in the privacy of their room for their own personal discussion using the communication technique they are learning on the weekend. Mass is celebrated each day.
What does it cost?
$50 (non-refundable) reservation deposit plus each couple is given a blank envelope at the end of the weekend asking to make a confidential contribution. No one is ever denied the opportunity to experience a Marriage Encounter weekend due to a lack of funds.
Where is it held?
In local hotels and retreat centers throughout the state of North Carolina.
