Please note: Our Marriage Preparation programs are designed for attendance by a couple. If for some reason beyond your control you are not able to attend together (such as military deployment), please contact the Marriage Preparation office.

The results of the FOCCUS are not reviewed at the Marriage Preparation Workshop. Results of the FOCCUS are sent to the priest or his designate preparing the couple for marriage. The engaged couple should plan to attend several meetings for FOCCUS review in addition to the Marriage Preparation Workshop. 

One-Day Marriage Preparation Workshop

What it is: A Saturday workshop presenting topics that deal with important issues regarding marriage.

There is minimal time for couple dialogue. Most workshops begin at 9:00a.m. and conclude at 4:30p.m. Continental breakfast and lunch are provided.

Cost of the workshop is $115 per couple in 2010 / $120 per couple in 2011 and includes FOCCUS. (Instructions for taking FOCCUS will be sent when workshop payment is received.) $25.00 of the fee is non-refundable. Please make checks payable to Diocese of Raleigh and mail to:

Schedule for One-Day Marriage Preparation Workshop

Remarriage Preparation Workshop

What it is: A workshop for couples who plan to remarry. Not only are the required Marriage Preparation topics covered, but remarriage and the Catholic Church, remarriage readiness and parenting / step-parenting issues are addressed.

Weekend for Engaged Couples

The Weekend for the Engaged program combines presentations on marriage life skills such as finances, communication and conflict resolution, along with a program titled "God's Plan for a Joy-Filled Marriage," which offers engaged couples a more complete understanding of God's glorious plan for marriage and human sexuality. The Joy Filled Marriage program is based on Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body, offering catechesis in the theology of marriage and the gift of human sexuality.

God's Plan for a Joy-Filled Marriage provides couples with a rich understanding of the teachings of the Church and offers them the tools to live married life as God intended. The creators of the program believe that when engaged couples understand God’s plan for marriage, including a clear and pastoral explanation of the “difficult teachings,” they come away from the program with a sense of liberation and with a clear understanding of Church teaching.

Personal reflections and couple dialogue are the main thrust of the weekend, with communal meals and liturgy providing group participation. The weekend begins with registration at 7:00pm on Friday, and the program begins promptly at 7:30pm and ends Sunday at about 1:00pm.

Cost of the weekend is $260 per couple and includes FOCCUS. (Instructions for taking FOCCUS will be sent when workshop payment is received.) This includes separate accommodations for men and women, meals, and all materials. $100.00 of the fee is non-refundable. Please make checks payable to Diocese of Raleigh and mail to:
