Formation for Ministry

Overview

ver en español   larger font

The Diocese of Raleigh, in partnership with Loyola University, New Orleans, offers graduate level education in religious education and pastoral studies for those seeking advanced studies in theology. Students meet in learning groups at locations within the diocese. LIMEX (Loyola Institute for Ministry Extension) courses lead to either a certificate or master's degree in religious education or pastoral studies.

When LIMEX is not the best option for individuals, the Office for Lay Ministry assists them in finding the right program to suit their needs. Information on graduate programs in ministry is kept on file in the Office of Lay Ministry.

Also offered within the diocese are courses toward the Certificate of Specialized Studies in Christian Spirituality and the Certificate of Specialized Studies in Pastoral Life and Administration.

The Diocese of Raleigh is committed to "recruiting and training lay leadership for ministry among our people." In order to make that training financially possible for lay men and women and their parishes, assistance is available through the Pearl Streb Powers Formation Fund for those pursuing the above or other approved formation opportunities.
