African Ancestry Ministry

Helen D. Cox College Scholarship Fund

Through the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh and the Office of African Ancestry Ministry & Evangelization, the Helen D. Cox Scholarship Fund has been made available to youth who are Catholic and non-Catholic to help with college educational financial needs. This is a one-time scholarship in the amount of $500.00. There will be only two scholarships awarded each year.

Scholarship Requirements

  • The scholarship is available to any youth or young adult under 25 years of age
  • Currently working toward an Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree while attending a Community College or four year College or University
  • Have completed a minimum of 24 college credits
  • Must have a GPA or 2.5 or higher
  • Copy of college transcript required to be submitted with application
  • Please have three letters of reference mailed (the individuals selected should not be related to the applicant)
  • Must submit a typed 300-500 word essay, including the reason for your selection of your Major, including past, present and future contributions made toward your community and church involvement.
